Voting As a Law
The trend of non-voting is no exception in Korea. On April 11th, there was a general election in Korea. The government did many publicity activities on voting including several campaigns before the election. However, the result wasn't very good. The total percentage of people who voted was little above 50%. This election was important because there was possibility that ruling party could change. People had precious opportunity to pick the members of the National Assembly by themselves and those who didn't vote blew it up. This society is going definitely wrong.
Those people who have no thinking of voting often say that they don't want to do it because of political corruption. They add that the government has been not working properly for a long time and all politicians are just same, they all suck. So it's no use voting because the government is already making too many mistakes. Most of non-voting people have negative perspectives towards the government and politics. As a result, they end up not interested in any of those and automatically having no desire to vote.
However, this whole thing is nonsense and ridiculous. Just you don't like how politicians do, it doesn't mean that you can never have chance to change something. If you hate politics or politicians, you really should vote. If you are tired of watching news about political corruptions, you definitely need to vote. Voting is not difficult. It just takes few seconds. The chance is already given to you. Election is the time when you have chance to express your opinion and make efforts to correct corrupted politics. This is why the government should make voting mandatory.
Poor voting is a big problem both politically and socially. People just don't realize how important voting is. Therefore, the government should make it mandatory and force citizens to do it. People need to remember always that voting is not a simple thing and it's directly related to politicians who govern their country. In my opinion, voting should be made in laws for the future of the country.
I totally agree with your point! Every citizen ought to vote! Your idea pleased me while reading your writing.
ReplyDeleteYour main point seem to be "voting should be mandatory."
The line "they all suck" struck me powerfully, because even though it's not a very noble word, it exactly shows what normal citizens feel.
Everything was clear to me.
I don't see any problem with this essay! I really enjoyed your writing!!

ReplyDeleteVoting As a Law
Voting is the obligation as a citizen living in a country. All citizens are born with this obligation and it’s not the one they can choose in favor. However, lots of people these days don’t realize the importance of voting. Some of them even vote for only one time in their whole life or do not vote at all. This is a serious problem because the purpose of it is choosing the right men who will govern the whole country. Voting in national elections is now more than just an obligation. The government should force people to vote and make voting mandatory.
