Three Causes of Happiness

Do you think you're a very happy person? Do you think you're really happy in your life? In this world full of depression and frustration, I think happiness is what keeps people alive.    Happiness is not difficult to achieve. In fact, I believe happiness starts with very little things. In my opinion, the true happiness comes from our state of mind. There are three causes of happiness that I consider as the most important: having a positive outlook, being in good relationships with people we love, and loving ourselves.

First, a positive outlook helps to find happiness in life. Having a positive attitude will help us find joy that was hidden behind our negatives. If there is a glass with half of water in it, how would you react? Would you say that the glass is half empty? Or would you rather say the glass is half full? It says that pessimistic people become more pessimistic and think more about only pessimism. If we always try to think on the positive side, we will be able to get courage in what we do and change the outcomes of our life. With positive outlook, we can be happy and we can enrich our life.

Next, when we meet people we love, we can feel happy. A study result said that people feel the most happiness when they meet their friends, families and close people. Moreover, I strongly think that the happiest people are the ones who are in a deep, meaningful relationship with people they love and care. Through this kind of relationship, we can feel connected and a part of something more meaningful and greater than just ourselves. Knowing that we are not alone is one of the key roots of happiness. Keeping a happy relationship with people we cherish brings us happiness and peace of mind.

Finally, a person who truly loves themselves, who has a high self esteem can achieve happiness. How can we be totally happy for no reason if we don't love ourselves? If we don't accept ourselves as we are, we will be listening to that inner critic which gives a continuous commentary on everything we do. I'm sure most of people heard it saying "You idiot, why did you say that?" or "I'm so stupid! I never do anything right!" If we want to get to the root of what causes happiness, we need to stop this inner critic. Get to love and accept yourself just the way you are. Work out to be happy.

In conclusion, it is good to have a positive outlook and change our attitudes toward everything we see and experience to bright side. Also, strong and loving relationship with people we love and cherish will brings us great happiness in our lives. Moreover, we may gain true happiness when we truly love and accept ourselves as we are. Happiness is not far away nor is it difficult to get. We just need to put our own efforts.

  1. I really like your introduction. It has hook, background information and thesis statement. I can see what you are going to talk about. Also i liked the 1st body paragraph where you ask question of half-full glass to the reader. It is interesting and gets my attention. Your conclusion restates your thesis statement and your overall writing is well-organized and interesting.
i am confusing with the sentence ' if we want to ge to the root fo what causes happiness' i don't get the meaning well.
