Lack of Personal Touch: the Most Serious Stress Today
For some people who love Facebook or Twitter as their primal method of keeping in touch with others, I want to ask whether they really feel connected. If they are in foreign countries, surely they are great methods to keep in touch with friends in their native countries. But nowadays, personal touch between people is disappearing due to the development of social networking systems, and this gives the biggest stress to people in modern society. Because of the loss of personal touch, first, people feel lonelier than yesterday; second, people hardly compassionate with others' pain; lastly, people become too individualistic.
First of all, because we lack of personal touch, we feel lonelier than past. People don't necessarily meet in person, because there are lots of social networking systems through which they can always contact with others. But the ironic thing is, people less contact with others because there are a plenty of methods and opportunity to communicate. Thus, the number of personal meeting as well as contacts via any network system decreases, and this makes us find nowhere to turn to and talk to.
Also, because we less meet others, we hardly compassionate with others' feelings or pain. There is a famous proverb, saying, "Out of sight, out of mind." As one can see from this statement, people don't feel enough unless they actually see it. With the decreasing number of personal meeting, today it's hard to sympathize with others' feelings. Thus, since people don't care about others, they become more and more self-concentrated.
As a result of these two factors I mentioned above, our society is becoming too individualized, and this poses the biggest stress to modern society. Human being has a nature to live with other humans. But humans today are not very sociable. People are living as the exact opposite of their nature, and this gives them so much stress.
To sum up, ironically, there are not many personal touches today because of the progress in social networking systems, and this is the biggest stress in modern society. Those who are sitting in front of the computer, posting their worries on Facebook or Twitter, should stand up right away and go meet their friends or family and share their worries with them. Repairing lost personal touch is the best stress-reliever for most of the people who are living today.

Your hook sentence amazed me since it seems to target on me! I also use SNS to promote relationships, but it cannot makes me happy.
ReplyDeleteYour main reasons are also persuasive and connected with introduction. But I think the third statement is same as others, since its content is just another writing based on a same idea.
