Happy TV-free Life
"Hey, did you watch Hae.Pum.Dal (the shorten form of ever popular drama's title) yesterday? Kim Su Hyeon (a cute main character every woman goes crazy for) was just so cute and I'm so in love with him!" You would probably hear such conversations very often these days. TV programs whether it is dramas, news or shows are often the topic of the conversation. Likewise, TV plays quite an important role in the life of modern people. However, it is absolutely possible to live without TV asthere are many other ways that allow us to live a better life. Regardless of the advantages TV has, we can live on because there are get information or knowledge via other medium
To begin with, TV is not the only way to get information or knowledge. There are other means of ways to acquire new, diverse, and professional information. It is true that people watch a variety of programs for educational and entertainment purposes. However, other methods like the Internet, books and magazines provide more accurate, faster and various information in different fields. The Internet, for example, is much more convenient in terms of time and accessibility. While TV has time schedule for programs, the Internet is always available and users can access the information according to their interests or fields anytime anywhere. Likewise, we can live without TV as there are other means of ways of getting information or knowledge.
Furthermore, our life without TV is imaginable because we can become healthier by enjoying other activities. A lot of people watch TV for the purpose of entertainment and relieve their stress. Modern people especially sit or lay down at home watching TV for a long period of time. This certainly has a negative effect on their health. Sitting in front of TV for long damages eyes and leads to obesity. Thus instead of watching TV to get rid of stress, we can enjoy other activities like outdoor physical exercises or socializing with other people. Then we can have much meaningful and healthy life.
Lastly, it is possible to live without television as we can have more free time for ourselves. There is no doubt that TV is addictive and therefore time consuming. According to the survey done by PeopleMedia online corporate, 75 percent of the people aged 20-50 think they watch TV more than five times a week and 81 percent of them said they have experienced watching TV longer than they wanted. It indicates that TV takes up too much time in our life once we start watching it. Thus, not watching TV means more free time and using it effectively or meaningfully can fulfill our lives.
In short, even though TV add flavor to our life, television-free live is not impossible. Instead of watching TV, we can use other sources to search for information, enjoy other activities for better health, and save time to have more free time to do important and meaningful deeds. Ever since the emergence of TV, there has been dramatic development in TV. Yet, there was reason for it to be called as a "Fool Box." Too much is as bad as too little. We better get out of TV addiction before it's too late.

ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your writing! You sounded reasonable by suggesting exact figures. Also I loved how you caught my attention by suggeting the name of the famous drama, though I didn't have a chance to watch it! Your main point seems to be "Although TV is enjoyable, we can live without it." Especially the line "TV adds flavor to our life" struck me powerfully. And everything was clear to me.
ReplyDeleteTo suggest just one thing, you wrote that "A lot of people watch TV for the purpose of entertainment and relieve their stress." in your third paragraph. For me, it sounded like a good aspect of TV, because TV is a good stress-reliever if people watch it for a short period of time. So it'll be even better if you think about this sentence one more time. But overall, very good work!!
