Dasom Yoo/What government should do/Thurs34

What should a government do for a country to become successful?

Could you call your country successful? What is exactly the government's job to make the country succeed? This is the question that every government wants to solve. And I think the one thing that government should do is to make the country stable.

The most important thing is that, the politicians should be more responsible and the parties should promote the public interest, not theirs. They should speak for people, and that is why people went to vote in their precious time. Often they forget that they are selected by citizens, and they are in fact representatives of the citizens. Their job is to work for national welfare, not fighting whenever they get together. I have seen too many TV news that the politicians had fought during the assembly. They do have to fight for the discrimination system, but we don't want a real fight. They know it is hard to get people's trust and it takes just a second in losing the credit. The government which all people turned against is not a successful country. So they should harmonize with each other to solve the matters that are needed to be settled, and work more for the public interest.

My thought could be too general but, to me the successful country is where people don't blame their president and government, and where people don't have complaints and struggles. In the end, the national welfare is what it is all about. And that is the country I call a successful country.

I liked your writing in that it has a very clear idea that we can easily find out. 'politicians should make the country stable.' Especially 'the parties should promote the public interest, not theirs' was good for me because this comparison supported the main idea well. And also I liked the expression 'government which all people turned against'. It was a great expression to illustrate the government that is not trusted. However, there were some sentences that I don't quite get clear meaning. 'not fighting whenever they get together' and 'but we don't want a real fight'. How about 'whenever they face the problems to deal with' instead? and Adding 'physical' meaning to make it more specific for the next thing? And ...I think 'the national welfare' in the conclusion is not quite connected to the main idea you argued so far. (It could apply only for me;; but) national welfare isn't just a stable-thing... I think you can put some details behind that word.

  2. To Dasom Yoo From Nam Alexander ( Assignment - What should a government do for a country to become successful?)
What I like about this piece of writing is the expression of self-feeling about that issue. I like it because the most expressions were done toward society from heart. Mostly it was concentrated on the public opinion which plays a significant role in success of the government.

The essay's main point is viewed from the society perspective. And that makes the essay is interesting, because I can feel how much power has a society by itself to make the government succeed.

I liked the word "discrimination", because it is strong by itself. And nowadays it has a broad usage among society as an issue.
The next word I liked is "responsible". Because in that sentence it clearly shows and emphasize the primary duty should be done by the government.
Another strong expression which is "precious time". It is one of the strongest words I think. Because society which lives in the world of endless competition must value each second in order to feed their families and themselves. And government should value each person's time, who participate in the political life of the country.
I liked "harmonize" too. Because there is always lack of harmony and understanding between society and government.

The essay is well written and it has a lot of strong and good expressions, but I want to clarify one sentence which is "They do have to fight for the discrimination system, but we don't want a real fight." May the author could clarify it in the further for better understanding.
And the author of this good essay used the strong word "fight" a lot. This word shows what the author feels well, but sometimes it would be better to change it into "controvert, refute, rebut".
In the end, the whole essay is good, it made me think about this issue from another angle and as an advice; if you expand your thoughts a little bit broadly by clarifying your good ideas ( especially about precious time)it will be a perfect essay.

Their job is to work for national welfare, not fighting whenever they get together. I have seen too many TV news that the politicians had fought during the assembly. For example, in Korea, politicians had fist fight when they have different opinion on the agenda. They do have to fight for the discrimination system, but I don’t want them to have a real physical fight. They know it is hard to get people’s trust and it takes just a second in losing the credit. The government which all people turned against is not a successful country.
